About Us

Hi everyone!  I'm Joy, one half of Two Sharp Pencils. I have been teaching 3rd grade in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio for over 10 years. Those years have flown by with many changes along the way, but I still think 3rd graders are the best!

I got married in June of 2016 to the love of my life, my husband Basette. It was a long journey to find each other and I thank God that he blessed me with him. Basette’s family is from Jamaica and our wedding took place in beautiful Ocho Rios. Nichole and her hubby Jeff were there to celebrate with us!
Basette and his brother have a photography business called Breighton and Basette Photography and let's just say I've gotten used to every important moment of my life being well documented :-).

I love to travel and would do it even more if I had the opportunity! My most recent trips abroad have been to Italy and Jamaica and both were such great experiences. My other interests include reading, exercising, and watching my guilty pleasure, Big Brother :-).

Hey guys! I’m Nichole, the other half of Two Sharp Pencils.  I have taught alongside of Joy in third grade going on ten years now. I love third grade! I think it’s especially great that they’re young enough to still love their teachers and school, but old enough to do some things independently.

Here’s my beautiful family! I have been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years now! We have two cutie pies, T and A. They are complete opposites in personality, T is very reserved and artistic and A is very outgoing and my wild child! :)

I love spending time with my family and we especially love to travel together. You can usually find us on a cruise to a Caribbean (our favorite) location sometime during the summer break. This summer we traveled to Jamaica to attend Joy's beautiful wedding! I also enjoy scrapbooking and drinking coffee.

We hope this has given you a little snapshot into who we are. We’d love to hear from you!

  2. Love your blog! I'm going to work on getting flexible seating in my classroom! Let me know if you have any more pointers! Also, we're neighbors :) I teach 3rd grade at Fairview-Clifton German Language School!
